Noble Park skate park

The implementation of the Youth Skate and Urban Park within Ross Reserve, Noble Park has been an incredibly exciting project in which many staff across council have been involved and it is a facility which is without parallel anywhere in Victoria.

The vision for the urban park is that it becomes a great new facility for children, youth and the community to use. A main feature of the space is a state of the art skate park and youth precinct. The concept is designed to be integrated with Noble Park Aquatic Centre and to make full use of the wonderful facilities at Ross Reserve.

This skate park is unique and different to Dandenong’s Hemmings Park skate park, and other skate parks within south-eastern Melbourne. The Ross Reserve Skate Park has been designed to incorporate the classic and iconic elements of a skate park within a contemporary design. The detailed tailoring of the design has strongly referenced overseas design trends, especially from California and Florida, where there is a design focus on integrating key “skate” elements that enable the shared use of a skate park by skaters, BMX and scooter users from beginner to advanced skill levels. Key elements that signify this design is the combination of a street course, snake run, and bowl. This is a significant shift in design focus and is a major asset for the broader skate and BMX community.

The design has incorporated the consolidated views of the broader skateboarding community, and other related sports such as BMX and scooters so that it suits a wide demographic from the pre-teens to the over forties age groups.
